The overall vision of this image is literally amazing!
I really love the sky, the light and the contrast created between the structure and the plants/rivere beneath it.
I had some problems reading the bottom part of the structure but once you get in the mid parte the flow became pretty fast and your eyes can catch all the details without being stopped in their motion.
The river is just beautiful and it' almost screaming with life. I also like the variation of the color scheme cause it gives the painting the exact same feel that you wanted to communicate with the subject itself. The decay of a modern(yet in a poverty contest) structure still being filled with life and surrounded by nature can bring out lot of feels and the painting it's almost telling us a story.
There are only 2 things that I don't really like: First - some textures used in the structure. On top of all the one with the turquoise tray in it that you used 2 times (one mirrored). It kinda looks flat and out of its "enviroment". The second thing are the light under the top of the structure in the upper left part, these looks pretty flat too and take away some of the 3D feel of the painting.
In conclusion, a really great painting that create a magical mood and atmosphere in a modern context. Very interesting to read and critique it!
Really nice mood you've captured here, and great level of detail too.
If you wanted to push the piece further i would think about you're fore/mid/and background and create some more separation between them using atmosphere and clearer value changes. you've definitely made a start on this though.
Its probably worth painting over some more of the texture work to define the structures a little more and hide some of the things that give away that 'copy paste' feel.
Think about the lights you have placed in there as well and where that light would be bouncing/creating shadows. You're main light source is clear which is great, however the sky in the background appears to be back lit so might not 'technically work' but still isn't too visually jarring. tweaking the sky might help push the silhouette of the main structure.
Also its hard to read where the buildings on the bottom left side are located. foreground or mid-ground? some perspective tweaks or atmospheric separation would probably help it read a little easier.
All in all though, a great mood piece that definitely conveys a unique environment with a consistent style throughout. A few compositional tweaks here and there and you have yourself a winner.
